sand in mah toes

The Great Sand Dunes of Colorado! A geological oddity for sure, beautiful if not for the overwhelming number of humans there. We had a blast!

my feet in spring water, ahhhhhh

and grandpa in Zoe's chair. He looks like he's sitting on the loo. Hehe.

A most glorious (yes I said glorious, it's appropriate here) sunset.

We had fun :) It wasn't camping (and for that I'm actually thankful. We took a gander at the campsite, it would have been a total letdown). We got pulled over 3 times in one hour (a new record for me, yes really) and had a paranoia induced detour through Alamosa...funny story actually. You know how to reach me if you want details.

So, happy Memorial Day, or something, and I leave you with nubby puppet theater!

Schacht! Can you dig it?

Zoe, Penney and I toured the Schacht Spindle Company in Boulder yesterday, and oh my wow was it cool! We are so blessed to live so close to these guys, and I now have a whole new appreciation for my Matchless wheel.

Where it all begins...

Making treadles...

Julie at the wheel...danger Will Robinson!

sigh

more sigh...their Saxony wheels are just so lovely...

an entire room full of Ladybugs! I've never seen this many in one place before

ever wonder where your lady bugs are hatched? Now you know...

the varnish room, aka the Break Room (well, it would be if I worked there :)

this was my favorite room...just for spinning and weaving and playing with fiber! I had a short love affair with the Matchless double treadle...

and Jane, lovely Patron Saint of Schacht goodness. Thank you so much Jane for taking time out of your day for us!

good times :)

may in review

Alpaca Show!

Both skeins I entered into competition placed third! The shawl never made it, I got frusterated with the pattern and didn't feel like finishing it in time...

Penney and I went to the Hot Sulpher Springs for my birthday, it was a great relaxing day :)

Penney...jeez...

Mother's Day with my little love. We went for brunch at the Inverness...they make the best creme brulee ever. Period.
Hiking in Boulder, just beautiful

And lastly, Zoe's ballet recital. Precious, no?

we went for Fourbucks with Brad after...

And I think that about sums it up :)

I am officially off to bed, as I have to endure day two of annual yarn sale tomorrow and it looks like Zoe may be coming down with something...swine flu maybe?

nighty-night!
